Selecting The Best Spring Flowers For Your Wedding

The sun has been shining here in Seattle for the past three days, which always makes us giddy for spring. With spring comes a huge selection of in-season wedding flowers perfect for your bouquet. Because spring is so abundant in floral choices, you can save money by selecting flowers that are in-season, rather than trying to order an out-of-season flower that will inevitably cost you much more. Here is a breakdown of our top choices in flower selection for your spring wedding.

spring wedding flowers
1. Tulips: On everyone's list of spring flowers, these are starting their long period of bloom in mid-spring.

2. Lily of the Valley: Even after the spring blooms fade, the leaves remain beautiful until fall and cover areas where other plants fail.

3. Hyacinth: These spring flowers bring scent as well as color to the spring garden.

4. Orchids: With their exotic colorful blooms, orchid wedding flowers are a popular favourite with brides.

5. Iris: The word Iris means rainbow. Irises come many colors: blue and purple, white and yellow, pink and orange, brown and red, and even black.

6. Peonies: These shrubs carry the garden from late spring into summer.

7. Lilac: These shrubs fill the late spring garden with scent and color.

Valentine's Day: A Day For Lovers (Of Chocolate)

You can't help but think of pounds of chocolate when you think of Valentine's Day. And no, we are not referring to the pounds that may start to accumulate on your thighs. After all, all calories are free on holidays, right? We are referring to those neatly packaged, overly-decadent, edible works of art that give us the warm fuzzies all over.

We've decided that the best cure for our cravings is to go on a Seattle chocolate tour. Here are just a few of the locations we'll be visiting...

Get Inspired: Partly Cloudy with a Chance of Sun

There is something about living in Seattle this time of year that makes us Seattleites ready for change. Perhaps it's the short, dark days or the constant gray skies, but living in Seattle from January to March can be rather depressing. But in truth, so far 2010 is off to a strange start here in Seattle. January lent itself to being one of the warmest and mildest winter months in Seattle's history. We even saw a good stretch of sunny weather, while our West Coast neighbors to the south experienced days of rain on end. Today's inspiration board is in honor of our recent days of "pretty nice" weather. We like pairing a bright, bold color like yellow with a mild and understated color like gray because it reminds of the party cloudy skies with a chance of sunbreaks that we often hear forecasted on the morning news. Plus it reminds us that spring, our long lost friend, is just around the corner.

Theme: Partly Cloudy with a Chance of Sunbreaks
Colors: Yellow and Metallic Gray
